THE G │ K400 EXPANDS OUR HEAVY-LIFT FLEET – FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION AND SECURITY OF SUPPLY

With the ceremonial presentation and successful load case test at Goldhofer AG in Memmingen, we officially unveiled our new G │ K400 lifting bridge on June 2, 2026. During an exclusive event attended by customers, partners, industry experts, and representatives of the trade press, we presented the new heavy transport solution and impressively demonstrated its capabilities through a live load case test.

The G │ K400 has been designed as a modularly optimized lifting bridge for cargo weighing between 150 and 400 tonnes. It is specifically intended for the transport of transformers, motors, turbines, and compressors. The objective of the new bridge is to provide a flexible, economical, and infrastructure-friendly transport solution for this weight range.

The bridge components of the G │ K400 were manufactured exclusively by Greiner. Initially, the bridge does not have its own running gear. For transport operations, it is combined with Goldhofer’s modular axle systems from the FT series. Together, this creates a powerful transport concept that combines Greiner bridge technology with Goldhofer running gear.

With the investment in the G │ K400, we are expanding our existing fleet of lifting bridges. The KAHL Group now operates the G │ K65, G │ K70, G │ K140, G │ K400, as well as the proven G² │ K600 heavy transport bridge.

“The new G │ K400 is not an alternative to the G² │ K600, but rather a targeted extension of our technical capabilities,” explains Andreas Kahl, Managing Partner of the KAHL Group. “It is modularly optimized for cargo weighing between 150 and 400 tonnes and provides us with additional flexibility for demanding industrial and energy transport projects.”

At the same time, the new bridge continues a remarkable success story. More than ten years ago, the G² │ K600 was developed and introduced – a heavy transport system that remains unique to this day. It was jointly engineered and manufactured by Goldhofer and Greiner. We acted as the initiator, client, and operator of this system. The G² │ K600 became a milestone not only because it enabled the transport of extreme loads, but above all because it provided intelligent load distribution, exceptional flexibility, and a significant reduction in axle loads.

For Andreas Kahl, the presentation of the G │ K400 is therefore also a personal milestone. More than a decade ago, the idea behind the G² │ K600 did not initially receive widespread support. There were many questions and doubts as to whether such a system represented the right technical, operational, and economic approach. Nevertheless, Andreas Kahl remained committed to the concept, convinced that controlling weight and reducing axle loads would become key challenges for the future of heavy transport.

“I believed in the G² │ K600 even when the concept initially raised many doubts,” says Andreas Kahl. “Today, we can clearly see that this confidence was justified. That is why I am particularly pleased that we are now adding the G │ K400 to our fleet and consistently continuing the success story of our lifting bridge systems.”

While the G │ K400 has been developed for a broad range of applications between 150 and 400 tonnes, the G² │ K600 remains the preferred solution for particularly demanding transport conditions. Wherever axle loads must be significantly reduced—even for cargo weighing up to 400 tonnes—the G² │ K600 remains unique and unmatched due to its ability to operate with up to 56 axle lines.

“Weight optimization, flexibility, and efficiency are important objectives. However, when it comes to safety, we do not compromise,” emphasizes Andreas Kahl. “Whenever a transport task requires maximum axle load reduction and the highest technical reserves, we continue to rely on the G² │ K600. The G │ K400 expands our capabilities precisely where a modularly optimized and lighter system represents the ideal solution.”

Special thanks go to Goldhofer AG for making the load case test possible at its facility in Memmingen and for providing the perfect setting for the event. Goldhofer also supplies the modular axle systems that are combined with the Greiner-manufactured bridge components of the G │ K400 during practical transport operations.
