KAHL GROUP: DOUBLE SUCCESS AT THE BSK AWARD 2026

Two categories. Two podium finishes. KAHL.

KAHL Group received recognition for two demanding heavy transport projects at the BSK Award 2026 in Cologne: transporting a pedestrian bridge to Velbert earned second place in the “Heavy Transport under 120 Tonnes” category. For transporting two transformers, each weighing 462 tonnes, to Büttel, our team secured third place in the “Heavy Transport over 120 Tonnes” category.

2nd place in the “Heavy Transport under 120 Tonnes” category: Velbert pedestrian bridge

Approximately 37 metres long, weighing around 40 tonnes and featuring an unusual curved design, the pedestrian bridge posed particular challenges for transport planning. Our team assessed around 35 route options to identify a suitable route to Velbert.

A combination of structural modifications to the bridge, detailed route planning and suitable transport equipment made the delivery possible. The project demonstrates how experience and carefully considered solutions can overcome complex constraints.

3rd place in the “Heavy Transport over 120 Tonnes” category: Transformer transport to Büttel

Our team transported two transformers, each weighing 462 tonnes, from Nuremberg to their designated foundations at Büttel substation. KAHL Group delivered an integrated transport chain combining road haulage, barge transport, complex cargo transfers and final positioning.

Minimal overhead clearances and a special vehicle configuration with 38 axle lines required precise planning and careful coordination of every transport stage.

Recognition for a collective achievement

Both projects were made possible by the collective efforts of our team. From initial planning to operations on site, many interdependent tasks must come together. Our employees’ experience, ideas and precision make these transports possible.

The two awards recognise this dedication and the strong cooperation throughout every phase of the projects. We thank all employees involved for their commitment and congratulate the other award-winning companies.
